For LivingLinux and lzzhzh : I would like to thank you for taking the time to periodically release a debian 13 testing image.
I would like to ask if it is possible to share on mega or wetransfer an image ready for nvme.
I downloaded an image for sdcard from mega but not having access to baidu I don’t know if there are images ready for nvme debian 13 testin with vpu gpu driver.
unfortunately i have very little time for this project and if an image for nvme was available i could start playing with this board again. thanks to all.
You may not be using the final version, The final version is debian2409pro (20250418). It has two download URLs shared by European VF2 users.
You can use debian2409 Pro to experience upgrading debian2409 to debian13 (retaining GPU VPU) on your own. To upgrade, please use sudo apt-get dist-upgrade。
Usage on nvme:
Thanks, I just followed the steps you told me and I was able to boot from nvme on the first try.
I downloaded the vf2-debian2409pro-20250418 image and flashed it on sd and nvme. then leaving the boot dipswitches at 0.0 it booted on sdcard.
with these commands I modified the boot of the image previously flashed on nvme.
su
mount /dev/nvme0n1p3 /mnt
cd /mnt/extlinux/
nano extlinux.conf
Find append root=/dev/mmcblk1p4 in the document and change mmcblk1p4 to nvme0n1p4; the same content should be changed 4 times. Press ctrl+o to save and ctrl+x to exit.
now i can play with the new image, can you confirm that i can do the updates with ap without losing the vpu/gpu changes?
The future cannot be predicted by anyone. I can only say that there is a high probability that upgrading with APT will not affect the VPU GPU, Since April 18th, my friends and I have been upgrading with APT, and the VPU GPU has been running normally.
Do not run apt-mark unhold
My VF2 is also an 8GB version. I didn’t recognize what graphical desktop environment you were using,Run ‘free’ on the command line or terminal and see if there are any prompts.
If you use “free” and it shows that you only have 4GB of RAM
Are you sure it is a VF2 with 8GB RAM and is indeed using Debian2409 or Debian2409 Pro,
I suggest you upgrade spl and uboot again. Using the specialized tool vf2-spl-uboot developed by StarFive for debian2409, It’s right in Curry (pictured). This tool has been tested and can also be used on debian2409pro.
I’m investigating, I have many boards in the lab and maybe this Visionfive2 is 4GB, sorry if I bothered you for a trifle. I tried with the starfive images and I always see 4GB, to be sure I’ll double check the order made “allnet” and then close the 3d, thanks
