Unable to boot from fedora

Hi team,
I am new to riscv and visionfive2, I purchased a new visionfive2 board and have latest fedora42 on the sd card. Attached hdmi cable and power to usbc, but i don’t see anything on the console.

How do i check if the board itself is working, I only see a red led light glowing, As per the Boot mode setting, i set the setting to boot from sdcard.
Is there a way to check if the board itself is in working condition ?

I suggest you not use Fedora42, It is not customized for VF2. If you must use Fedora, please try Fedora41。
It is recommended to prioritize using StarFive’s official image package. RVspace All-in-One User Experience Center | RVspace ,It is located at the bottom left corner of this webpage.

If you want to upgrade StarFive’s official debian2409 to debian13, you can refer to here or here。 I personally made it for reference only.
Download link for Fedora41: 试用Fedora 41 for VisionFive 2

I hope it can help you。

Fedora ?
You need update uboot first.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/RISC-V/StarFive/VisionFive2

got it working with fedora41. Thanks everyone

To update the uboot , so i first need to install debian or something and then follow this method (Architectures/RISC-V/StarFive/VisionFive2 - Fedora Project Wiki) that to update the uboot and then install fedora42 right ?

No need.
You can follow " Installing SPI-NOR firmware via UART boot mode " in fedora-wiki-page .
This is need a USB-UART dongle.

okay thanks a lot, i didn’t order the USB-UART dongle when buying the board. Ordered now, will try this.

Here are the config files and scripts used to build fedora 42 silverblue for vf2.

cleanup-before-rebuild.sh (1.2 KB)

fedora-42-riscv64.repo (135 Bytes)

fedora-42-silverblue-vf2-minimal.yaml (585 Bytes)

build-vf2-silverblue.sh (3.5 KB)

I did build a raw 8.0 GB image for fedora silverblue 42.

raw file for vf2-fedora-silverblue 42

b3sum for raw file for vf2-fedora-silverblue 42

I can’t preserve and maintain it from this location for long. Please grab it and place it somewhere else more permanent for somebody else to continue on this effort. Thank you.

I am looking forward to your Fedora42, it should support UEFI and grub.
