1. Developing VisionFive 2 SBC into a P ortable RISC-V MiniPC
Recently, Arnov Sharma has developed the StarFive VisionFive 2 into a portable RISC-V MiniPC with a built-in battery pack. Sharma started with model design in Fusion 360. 2. Swift launches a new toolchain for RISC-V hardware: Running Swift language on VisionFive 2

3. Using MQTT Protocol to integrate with OneNet cloud gateway design on VisionFive 2
An AE named “小手凉凉”(cold hands) has released a design tutorial for integrating MQTT protocol with OneNet cloud gateway on VisionFive 2. In this scheme, the publisher publishes messages to the Onenet cloud server through VisionFive 2 single board computers, and multiple subscribers subscribe to the messages. At the same time, VisionFive 2 also subscribed to server distribution settings, and upon receiving the distribution from the cloud, it controls the switch through a relay. 4. 2024 RISC-V China Summit Poster Sharing: StarFive’s Exploration and Implementation in RISC-V Industrial Applications
During the 2024 RISC-V China Summit, Atlas Luo, the technology expert from StarFive, shared StarFive’s Exploration and Implementation in RISC-V Industrial Applications in the poster exhibition area. StarFive has successfully ported open-source PLC to run OpenPLC and IgH EtherCAT master stations on its self-developed RISC-V SoC “JH-7110”, and has conducted specialized real-time optimization for these applications. StarFive is also committed to porting basic frameworks such as Embedded Graphic Interface (QT) and Industrial Gateway (OpenWRT), providing strong support for the industrial application ecosystem of RISC-V. Faced with the increasing demand for heterogeneous system functionality, StarFive actively explores innovative solutions combining RISC-V and FPGA. At the same time, StarFive embraces the application of AI in the industrial field, adapting the OpenCV framework on RISC-V to achieve GPU accelerated, and accelerating AI applications by adapting external NPU modules.
5. 2024 RISC-V China Summit Poster Sharing: Building containers on VisionFive 2
During the 2024 RISC-V China Summit, developer Leon Nunes shared a poster titled Building Containers on VisionFive 2 in the poster section. The poster covered 4 main topics: basic introduction to VisionFive 2, differences between containers and virtual machines, community initiatives, and using podman to build containers.

On August 15th, StarFive officially released its new self-developed high-performance RISC-V CPU IP: Dubhe-70, which focuses on extremely low power consumption. Dubhe-70 is a 9+ stage, 3-issue, out-of-order 64-bit CPU IP that supports the rich RISC-V instruction set, RV64GCBH. Its’ performance can benchmarking against Arm Cortex-A72/A510 with SPECint2006 7.2/GHz.

2. Geniatech releases XPI-7110 RISC-V SBC
Recently, Geniatech released the XPI-7110 RISC-V SBC. The XPI-7110 RISC-V SBC is equipped with the StarFive JH-7110 RISC-V multimedia processor, using a 64-bit quad core RISC-V CPU with a maximum operating frequency of 1.5GHz. It is compatible with the Raspberry Pi RPI-4B and I/O interface, and it can be applied for use in IoT control and display all-in-one machines. 3. OrangePi RV, the first RISC-V SBC of Orange Pi, is now available
The RISC-V SBC OrangePi RV, jointly released by Orange Pi and StarFive, is now available for purchase. OrangePi RV is designed and developed based on StarFive’s JH-7110 RISC-V multimedia processor, featuring a quad core RISC-V CPU with 2MB L2 cache.
