Linux Kernel with compiled with SquashFS support?

I am trying to build a .snap package for riscv64 and launchpad.net builders tend to be quite busy from time to time (like a week of waiting time busy), therefore I have tried to build snap locally, but looks like Ubuntu 24.04 image that comes from StarFive has kernel compiled without SquashFS support and snapcraft refuses to install without it.

Is there an image for VisionFive 2 known to have SquashFS enabled in kernel?

Not sure if recompiling it from source manually on VisionFive 2 itself is a good idea, considering how weak the hardware is.

How long does it take to recompile the kernel on VisionFile 2?

Usually 2-3 hours, mainly depending on. config, there are also those that exceed 24 hours. What I recently compiled is

ps:There is NVME.

I am currently using ubuntu 24.04 and wondering how long will it take to compile it with the same settings as it is, just adding SquashFS support. If it’s would take hours that’s doable, but I am on microSD and was afraid it could take days, not hours.

You can try starting with microSD and then compiling in nvme. I sometimes do it the same way.

Up until recently, I was building my kernels on VF2L on an SD card. Definitely doable in 1-2 hours.

I hope it will be one-time effort, so maybe i can do it with microSD. Thanks for the heads-up!
