External USB Drive Difficulties

Two external USB drives have failed with my VF2 - one a hard disk, the other a flash drive. Neither has ever given me trouble on my main (AMD laptop) machine - even after they failed on the VF2.

My SW config is non-standard (upgraded to Debian Trixie riscv64) and I’m wondering if there might be any HW issues that might not have workarounds upstreamed, or if anybody has had issues using external USB drives on the VF2.

Flashing another SD card with the latest release would be a smart idea - I’ll run out and get another card when I get a chance, but I thought I’d ask here as well.

Thanks,

Dan

hi, blue.
I also use Debian Trixie, debian2409 upgraded to Debian Trixie riscv64.
Debian13 started from TF has been normal for me for 1 year. The TF card is from Samsung.
I have recently started debian13 from nvme. There are some minor malfunctions during the operation of nvme, which do not affect its use. A minor issue is that it is not possible to perform a large number of NVME operations in the graphics environment, NVME operations with large amounts of data can be executed normally in a command-line environment.

Which power supply you use ?
Is it got enough power to work ?

My VF2 work with a 2xHDD box with starfive-debian. It have a separated 12V4A power supply.
