VF2 Lite eMMC Setup Guide for Linux?

Hi,

I’ve got three Vision Five 2 Lite’s 8Gb with the 64Gb eMMC. I use Linux on my desktop and I’m looking for a guide to setting these up with Debian or Ubuntu FROM a Linux system. I’ve only been able to find tools and a guide for Windows.

Also, if I need a serial cable to set them up, can anyone recommend which serial cable I should get please?

For future SBC’s it would have been really good if you could hold down a button, or short some pins on the device which could then allow it to be mounted as a storage device so you could dd Linux straight to the device.

Thanks,

Andy

About serial cable,I recommend using FT232 or CP210x.

You can use the serial port on one board to connect to the serial port on a second board (both need to have 3.3 volt GPIO pins), using “female to female jumper wires”.
e.g.

GND1<->GND2
 RX1<->TX2
 TX1<->RX2

I’ve also used the USB to UART bridge of a Raspberry Pi Debug Probe.
